In this article, you’ll discover the things to do and places to go to help improve your fitness and wellbeing in the Bedworth area.
Walking
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council (NBBC) provide free to attend walks which take place each week at various locations. Walking is a great way to start being more active doesn’t require any special fitness equipment and is easy to take part in. The walks are also a social outlet for those seeking the companionship of others on a regular basis.
The Council arranged walks are called Nuneaton & Bedworth Walking 4 Life and take place in two locations in Bedworth – Bedworth Heath Community Centre and The Miners Welfare Park. Search online for the next scheduled walks. Each walk takes approximately 1 hour, covering about 3 miles.
Newdigate Recreation Ground
A little away from the town centre is Newdigate Rec which is in the Heath ward of Bedworth. Postcode for it is CV12 0JP. Here you will find a children’s play area, shelter and basketball/5 a-side football court. The area is floodlit and has a fence surrounding it. There’s a wide-open green space that is popular with dog walkers. There are no food, drink or toilet facilities here to bear that in mind if you plan to visit.

Miners Welfare Park
The park was originally created for the miners of the area and their families. Today, the park is maintained by the Council. It has plenty to offer with various activity equipment spread around the park, including a play area, skate park and tennis courts.
It’s also popular with dog walkers.
The car parks are not huge and can get busy so it’s advisable to check when peak times occur, especially during school holidays. When the weather is good, the play area is very popular with children and parents, and you can pretty much be guaranteed to see an ice-cream van there!
The flowers beds are well stocked & maintained by the council and are a delight to see once everything has come out in bloom. Bedworth has previously won awards in the RHS Britain in Bloom campaign and is very much deserved.
